Editorial Review:Amazon.com:Until his untimely death, Jim Croce was a force to be reckoned with on radio playlists.
Photographs & Memories repackages some of his best work. Romantic acoustic-oriented songs were his hallmark, and songs like "Time in a Bottle," were huge hits because of their easy sentimentality. "I Got a Name" was the singer as well-worn folk traveler, while "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and even "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" followed standard boogie chord progressions, albeit with Croce's softer rock feel. There wasn't much really separating the overt emotions of "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song" and "Operator" from his sap-dripping contemporaries, but there was just enough of an edge in Croce's warm voice to elevate his love songs to another level. Like a, oh, moderately priced wine, Croce remains a classic--accessible, affordable, and easy to enjoy.

Somebody was right. I'm the casual Jim Croce fan and this is all I need. Bad Bad Leroy Brown and Don't Mess Around With Jim are my favorites of course. And I do like Time In A Bottle.

We miss you Jim and sure could use your talents in todays muddled pop music. What we have are our memories and this gift of a cd. Songs that have played a thousand times at moments in our life and carry more meaning today then when we first heard them. His tender romantic songs that becasue of that voice always seemed to have an edge, TIME IN A BOTTLE, OPERATOR, I'LL HAVE TO SAY I LOVE YOU IN A SONG. The soul-searching identity of I GOT A NAME. The funky BAD, BAD LEROY BROWN, RAPID ROY and the wistful ...

...thanks to the quality of Jim Croce's songwriting. I love this record. Every time I hear "I Got A Name" and "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song" I get goosebumps because that special feeling these songs have given me has remained inside of me even after several years. When I was younger I used to get the same amazing feelings. When music is THIS good, it stays fresh every time you listen to it. To me, that's the ultimate sign of greatness.

This CD has all of what I consider to be Croce's best known songs on it and is really worth buying. The sound quiality is great and if you're a Croce fan or just want to check him out, this is the CD to buy. The only bad thing is that he's not around to put out more great tunes like those on this CD.

Right after he died, he was everywhere on the radio. Since then he have disappear from the musical face of the earth. "Time in a Bottle", "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown","Don't Mess around with Jim" and "I got a name" are just the tip of this musical iceberg. His songs range from the touching "Photograph and Memories" to the fun hearthed "Car Wash Blues" and "Roller Derby Queen".
This album hits everything that you need from one of the Great Singer/Songwriter of the 70s. There are a lot of imposters ...
