Editorial Review:

Product Description:
If you love to bake but are disheartened by cookies and pastries that burn and stick, you'll certainly appreciate this flexible, non-stick Exopat Baking Mat, often referred to as Silpat. Made in France, the mat promotes even browning without burning, and easy removal from the pan without sticking. To use, simply place the mat on your baking sheet ??? no greasing required. Place your cookies or pastries on top of the mat and bake in the oven as you normally would. After baking, simply remove the mat, shake it clean and store it away until next time. The mat is freezer safe and can withstand oven temperatures up to 580 degrees. Use it over and over - it's guaranteed to last up to 3,000 bakings.

Amazon.com Review:
Made of slippery silicone, the Exopat baking mat prevents cookies and pastries from sticking, eliminating the need for parchment paper, nonstick cooking surfaces, and the greasing of baking sheets. It measures 16-1/2 by 11-5/8 inches, wipes clean with a sponge, is heat- safe to 580 degrees F, can be used 2,000 to 3,000 times, and is an essential tool for an avid baker. --Fred Brack

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Really nice product
I got this baking mat for my birthday from my wish list and I love it! I have been using it almost daily and it works very well. I used to have rolls burnt on the bottom and raw on top, but since I started using this mat they were evenly brown. I throw it in the dishwasher every now and then to clean it, but it doesn't get very dirty and nothing sticks to it. A wonderful nifty thing no one should be missing in his/her kitchen!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great for baking cookies
This is perfect for baking cookies. They don't stick and the Matfer keeps the bottom of the cookies the same color and doneness as the top of the cookies. It is hard to go wrong with these.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Wish it was Dishwasher Safe
Works great blah blah blah (refer to the other 200 some reviews); wish it dishwasher safe though. Although it may be because it can go through high temps in the oven, I didn't try it because the package says hand wash with soap. Believe me I was tempted to throw it into the dishwash a few times--but decided not to. It keeps baked goodies from sticking and does what it's supposed to do.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Exopat vs. Silpat
I bought one each of these brands back in 2005. I prefer the Exopat only because I like the color better. It's possible that product quality has changed in the last two years, but I haven't experienced any of the problems others have noted with either sheet. The Silpat has some round, cookie sized stains on it, but I don't really recall how that happened. Perhaps if I had used the Exopat for that particular batch, it would have the stains. Both mats have performed flawlessly for hundreds of uses. ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Works well, gets filthy
Have used the Exopat since Christmas 2006. It does work well, helps baked goods (generally cookies, though we have made frozen pizzas and other things, too) cook evenly and slide off evenly. Actually, that's it's best part: even burned cookies slide right off. The problem is cleaning. Any oils in your baked goods will become semi-permanent on the sheets. It is indeed very hard to clean, though I don't see any degradation in performance even when it is dirty. It may be the California dustbuster/wrought ... Read More
