Editorial Review:Product Description:In the year 2035 technology & robots are a trusted part of everyday life. But that trust is broken when a scientist is found dead & a skeptical detective believes that a robot is responsible. Will technology lead to mankinds salvation .. Or annihilation? Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 05/13/2008 Starring: Will Smith Bridget Moynahan Run time: 115 minutes Rating: Pg13
Amazon.com:As paranoid cop Del Spooner, Will Smith (
Independence Day,
Men in Black) displays both his trademark quips and some impressive pectoral muscles in
I, Robot. Only Spooner suspects that the robots that provide the near future with menial labor are going to turn on mankind--he's just not sure how. When a leading roboticist dies suspiciously, Spooner pursues a trail that may prove his suspicions. Don't expect much of a connection to Isaac Asimov's classic science fiction stories;
I, Robot, the action movie, isn't prepared for any ruminations on the significance of artificial intelligence. This likable, efficient movie won't break any new ground, but it does have an idea or two to accompany its jolts and thrills, which puts it ahead of most recent action flicks. Also featuring Bridget Moynahan (
The Sum of All Fears), Bruce Greenwood (
The Sweet Hereafter), and James Cromwell (
Babe,
LA Confidential).

I read "I, Robot" as a teenager and loved it. They changed quite a few things, but I was not disappointed by this movie because I felt they retained the true essence of the book. I was very moved by the robots protection of humans. I think Will Smith did a good job. I really liked the computer-generated robots. Their humanity really came through. Even though they deviated a lot from the original book, I would recommend this, even for big fans of Isaac Asimov.

I have the movie in full screen. I wanted a wide screen version to play on my computer lcd monitor.
Oops!! it quit playing about halfway through.
Tested on a stand alone DVD player same thing.
Dispointed...

This picture transfer on Blu-Ray is definitely reference quality and worth bragging about and showing off to your Hi-Def junkie friends.I can't comment on the lossless audio quality since I cannot decode quite yet.This is a "must have" for any Blu-Ray collection.

He plays the only guy in the movie with any common sense, and is thus very unrealistic. Also, his urban black hip dude schtick grows very wearisome. The special effects are just ok. The plot involves some nonsense about robots taking over the world. It's only set 25 years in the future. A bit of a stretch if this is what the world is really coming to.
