This set of four 19-1/2-ounce Marquis Vintage deep red wine glasses each stand 8-3/4 inches tall. With an elongated bowl that narrows slightly toward the mouth, this set is specifically proportioned for heavier wines, such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot, or syrah. The shape of the bowl allows the wine to breathe properly and for the aroma to be appreciated to its full extent. Waterford recommends washing all fine crystal by hand in moderately hot water with a mixture of mild lemon detergent and ammonia in order to preserve the quality and brilliance of the crystal for many years. This set was purchased to replace two previously broken stems. The price was about the same as I paid over a dozen years ago. I received the set well packaged and in less than the expected delivery time. After unpacking, I compared the new glass with an old surviving one. The finish on the lip of the glass (new) was different. It was more like a regular glass with a rounded edge. The old glass has a sharp, well defined finish. I bought four of the Deep Red Wine Glasses approximately 4 years ago and contrary to what the previous reviewer says I have not noticed any special susceptibility to chipping. Mine are in fine shape - though I have NEVER washed them in the dishwasher (always hand washed).
