This is one of the most diverse albums to ever have hit the shelves. The sound is clean with virtually no background layering, while everything musically has its place and stands out, cutting through the mix. Ikon continued to improve every aspect of their music with each album as they advanced forward.
One must ponder why Ikon hadn't made it to the mainstream with this album. Unfortunately the band split and never acheived as massive a sound as they had obtained here.
A good companion ...

Ikon are one of my favorite 90's goth bands and this my favorite old Ikon album (old meaning when Micheal Carrodus was still with them). Yes, Carrodus has a voice similar to that of Joy Division's Ian Curtis, one of their influences, but to me Ikon are (dare I say it?) better then Joy Division (musically for the most part). Flowers.. is a stunning album. Melodic, mesmerizing , brilliant . Comparisons would definitely be to Joy Division, basically because M. Carrodus sounds very much like Ian Curtis. The music is very varied and in my point of view outperforms J.D.`s. Lyricwise , they are very competent too, keeping a depressive and intelligent approach. Pick this album or you will be missing out on what Goth is all about in the nineties and shall be in the next Millenium. PS:Shortly after this album was recorded Michael left ...

IKON's third release, "Flowers for the Gathering" typifies everything that great Gothic rock should be. With soft, yet powerful, vocals, melodic backdrops to kill for, and a rhythm which you will not soon forget, "Flowers" has set the standard by which all Goth-rock should follow into the next century. This title is highly recommended and will not disappoint.
