Inspired by the artisan pottery of Central Java, Indonesia, Sango dinnerware items are handcrafted so that no two pieces are exactly alike. Guests will be delighted by the simple construction, slightly retro-Asian style, and the use of rich, earthy shades of color progressing from dark edges to light centers. - Great design, poor qualityBoth my wife and I really liked the Sango Nova Black design. After trying a few pieces, we ordered a good sized collection from various sources, including Amazon, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Amazon sellers. We really enjoy the plates, but they aren't holding up at all. After eight weeks, we've had two crack apart and four more chip in normal wear. Our last plate set lasted years without chipping.

- No Durability - crack in the microwave and chip during regular use!I had very high hopes for these dishes. First, the color was inconsistent. Then, within two weeks, I had two chipped bowls. Now, very often I notice cracks after using them in the microwave (and they stay incredibly hot). I am so disappointed.

- In shock...I like one of the other reviewers am shocked to hear of the complications some buyers have had. I do admit the dishes put out in 2003 are a little more fragile than more recent ones (2005-on). I tend to be a klutz and have hit the dishes on counters, sinks, each other and have not had any problems with breakage or chips. When I moved I unpacked my ice cream bowls and 12 place settings out on the table. The table was bumped very hard and all of the dishes came crashing down to the floor. I only lost ... Read More

You better believe that I am very happy with my dishes! At first, I was a little anxious about breakage. I had ordered two sets. Received one box with the dishes in perfect condition. Few days later, the other in perfect condition! I'm very pleased with the service and care that Amazon gaved me with this order and past orders. I highly recommend Amazon.
