Heliopan glass filters are made exclusively with glass from Schott (Zeiss) the world's finest optical glass supplier. Heliopan filters are "dyed in the mass" and ground, polished and coated to the highest standards of the German optical industry. All Heliopan screw in type and series size filters are mounted in precision black anodized brass rings to eliminate binding or cross threading and to ensure optimal alignment. The care, quality and performance of Heliopan's filters make them simply the world's finest filters! Each Heliopan filter has an anti reflective coating, scratch proof metallic oxide coating on each surface. This special hard coating reduces reflections by approximately 50%. Heliopan filters are referred to as double coated. This means that the front and rear glass surfaces have coating applied to them.

- No problems with nikon lens capI was concerned after reading the only review available on Amazon com regarding placing the lens cap on this filter. It is true that the front edge is thin but the Nikon lens cap fits perfectly without any problems. I got this to protect Nikon 80-400mm lens.

- I can't get my lens cover on itThis certainly looks like a nice piece of glass. I got it for haze reduction and to protect my Canon 24-105 f/4 L lens. The only problem is that the front edge is so thin, I can't get my lens cap all the way on. It goes part way on but kind of wobbles. My other B + W filters (67 mm and 58 mm MRC UV filters) don't do this. I'm planning to order the B + W 77 mm filter instead. It seems like, if you're buying a filter for almost $100 to protect an $1100 lens, you have the right to be picky.
