Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
Toto may be past its prime as a multi-platinum recording band, but Live in Amsterdam offers abundant proof that their performances are as electrifying as ever. Recorded in Amsterdam's Heineken Music Hall on February 17, 2003, near the end of Toto's 25th anniversary world tour, this dynamic concert serves as a cheerful reminder that Toto have been alive and well and recording steadily since 1978. The band's 2002 release Through the Looking Glass was an album of covers, two of which are welcomed here: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a prime showcase for guitarist Steve Lukather, and "Bodhisattva" is a tight, meticulous tribute to Toto's original drummer, the late Jeff Porcaro, and his classic sessions with Steely Dan. The mega-hits "Africa," "Rosanna," and "Hold the Line" are perfectly executed, and in a band full of talented singers, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball sounds better than ever. Two impressive medleys show the band in full gear as a comfortable unit of seasoned professionals, highlighted by impeccable work from keyboardist David Paich, bassist Mike Poracaro, and ace drummer Simon Phillips (who also produced and mixed this recording for DVD). And while 35 minutes of Porcaro's backstage home-video might seem frivolous, it shows a band that's still having fun, as reflected in the beaming smiles of their appreciative Amsterdam audience. --Jeff Shannon

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nicely done, Toto et al.
1. Recommended to me by an audiophile friend.
2. I'm not particularly into Toto.
3. Great performance, and great production. Both the DTS (4 channel surround) and Dolby (5.1) are great mixes.
4. A good buy. I'm glad I own it.

Love isn't always on time. Think about it.

Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Old vocals and a comment on "modern" music...
I don't know all the names, but I know the songs for this band. All the "big" songs are here and the sound quality is great. Of course, like everyone else has stated, they are great on their instruments. The guy who sings lead on "Africa" and on "I Won't Hold You Back" cannot sing the way he used to and that must be mentioned. And in the case of "I Won't Hold You Back" he has no one to help him with the backing vocals on the chorus and in one part, he gets the fans to sing it at the point he is ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great if you know the songs.
I know Africa and Rosanna. Dont know the other songs. The sound and picture quality is great. Channel separation is great too. This HD-DVD was well done.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Toto - Live in Amsterdam
Great picture, awsome sound, only thing lacking, would have liked to have heard more of a greatest hits package. Not enough old material in full song format. Worth buying!
