Editorial Review:Description:This lively, fun-filled lesson shows kids everything they need to start making music on the ukulele. With its small body and fingerboard, the uke is a perfect starter instrument for young people. Marcy Marxer teaches the parts of the instrument and how to hold it and tune it up -- then it's right into the first song!
Ginger plays a prominent role in these child-friendly lessons. Attractive on-screen graphics illustrate fingering for the five basic chords taught here, and by the end of this lesson the whole family will be enjoying these songs: Row, Row, Row Your Boat; Mary Had A Little Lamb; Skip To My Lou; If You're Happy And You Know It; Old MacDonald; Oh! Susanna; It Ain't Gonna Rain No More; On Top Of Spaghetti; Bingo.
The magic of video allows you and your child to play along with Marcy and Ginger over and over again. This excellent introduction to music for young children teaches finger coordination, ear training and basic theory. Best of all, kids will learn that making music is satisfying, fun and easy!

I loved this DVD and learned a lot. They made it fun and easy. I am now going to ask my dad to if he would please buy Volume 2 for me!

Great video for 4-5 year olds. My daughter is a bit young to follow the instructions, but she loves to sit and watch it while holding her new uke.

Once you get past the dumb jokes and Ginger the dog it is a good DVD to learn how to play the instrument.
