Special Features: Provides the classic four stage phasing sound with continuous variable speed control. Phase 90 fixed regeneration level adds intensity and is particularly effective for keyboards. This device has found its way into many of Eddie Van Halen's recordings, adding a shimmery velocity to lead passages or a more dramatic swoosh to muted strumming. This phaser is not just designed for guitars; it works well with bass, keyboards and even vocals and appears in all of these guises on Dweezil Zappa's Z album, 'Music For Pets', which hints it is flexible and hip. Features: Foot accessible speed control knob. LED on/off indicator. Powered by the Dunlop ECB-02 AC Adapter and/or 9 volt battery.

This is great little box to add some feel to your riffs. The one knob is all you need to get a variety of cool tones. Van Halen tone is at about 10-11 o'clock. You won't be dissappointed.

As the other reviewer pointed out, modern effects processors just don't get phasers (or really any modulation) right. You absolutely need this for an authentic early Pink Floyd sound (before Gilmour switched to a EM Flanger around time of the Animals tour). There is a very simple mod to make sound a little more like the classic "Script Logo" version that involves cutting one resistor. I prefer the sound that way, but even stock this is a great little effect that does one thing and does it well.

The Phase 90 pedal offers everything that went wrong with digitally produced sounds. I've used several Line 6 products over the years, such as the Pod, Spider and Flextone, but nothing can come close to the authentic sound of that tiny phase box.
Keep in mind the phase pedal should be used in conjuction with a number of other pedals such as BIG MUFF or some other sustain. This is a simple device, but can tweak your sound toward more retro music such as Sonic Youth.
