Description:
Chojun Miyagi Sensei stated, "Hojo undo are practised with the aim of perfecting the kata." In the same lecture, given in Osaka on January 28th, 1936, he went on to say, "...kata is an exercise for the whole body, while the individual movements are performed with the objective of self-defense." This second volume of the series brings together these two concepts by demonstrating in great detail the supplementary exercises, or Hojo Undo, and the basic kata Gekki Sai Dai Ichi & Gekki Sai Dai Ni, and Saifa. Following Miyagi Sensei's teaching method, the individual movements are explained, as is their role in the complete version of the kata. Author Morio Higaonna is the student of An'ichi Miyagi, who studied exclusively with the Founder of Goju Ryu karate, Chojun Miyagi. Higaonna Sensei is assisted in this presentation by Instructor Tetsuji Nakamura.

- Good Training Reference SupplimentExcellent instruction as was in the first volume and even more accessible as a reference with the inclusion of a very simple yet functional DVD menu. In fact, I prefer this type of "static" menu over the rather annoying menus which continuously "loop" on other DVDs. I hope further instruction on other traditional hojo undo equipment will be included on future volumes.

- Encyclopaedia of Goju Ryu Karate Vol 1 & 2If you have Master Morio Higaonna's Goju-ryu series by panther production, you do not need to purchase the Encyclopaedia of Goju Ryu Karate Series. So far this new series Vol 1 & 2 are available and does not have any new vital information.
However the Tsunami Production is execellent!
