Absolutely one of the most boring 1/2 hours that I have ever spent. There were snipets of wonderful music, but no real music. It could have been great but was poorly done. It looked like something put together with little or no thought. It was spinning the story alright just not the disco story. Giving it a 1 star is overly generous.

Forget all the negative comments about this DVD. For the money (buy it used) it's a lot of fun to see interviews with disco pioneers, historical footage, as well as a few performance clips (it is a documentary so don't expect to see a lot of complete performances). As you watch the DVD you may not realize the significance of the people it features. Get Peter Shapiro's book, Turn The Beat Around and look up some of the names and you'll find that this DVD is featuring the "founding fathers" of disco ...

The problem with this documentary isn't that they haven't researched it. Nor is it that they don't have a bevy of people talking about it and how disco changed so much. They have empirical evidence of its roots too. In fact, by and large there is a huge amount of information here. The problem is that it's just not very entertaining. The advertising for this documentary would have us believe that we are going to see performances by a multitude of performers, when in fact, what we see are snippets of ...

A great documentary hosted by an over effusive Gloria Gaynor and featuring tons of interviews with some of the disco stalwarts Tom Moulton, Alicia Bridges, Thelma Houston, Giorgio Moroder to name a few. It really tells the story from an American perspective and if I were to make one minor criticism it would be that it excludes the European side of disco; after all across the Atlantic in Germany to be precise a whole movement was taking place as well artists such as Donna Summer, Boney M, Amanda Lear, ...
