Customer Reviews
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - What's with the uproar and complaints concerning the picture and sound?
This short "review" is about the picture/sound quality and other related issues of the 25th anniversary DVD release of "The Children".
Frankly I don't get it. I bought this movie - the 25th Anniversary Edition - on eBay,
in spite of the numerous negative 1 & 2 Star reviews here - for my collection (mostly
for sentimental reasons). I was expecting horribly washed out, blurry images, faded or absent colors, distorted weak sound, lots of pops and scratches, etc... Hmmm... I found ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I've contacted Anchor Bay
Last month, I contacted Anchor Bay Entertainment and asked them if they release a second issue of The Children on DVD. I told them everything that's wrong with Troma's release, but in order to get my point across I had to copy and paste most of the comments left by other people who purchased the DVD. Sorry.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - My all time favorite movie but read below for the 3 stars which you might already know

OK,

At first I can understand peoples complaint. Why did rhino put out a very clean print of the movie and finally on dvd it is [...]. That is the only complaint I have. Now if the dvd came out first and it was a bad print then we would assume that they could not do anything about it, but I dont believe like the one man said about the dvd not having much money to make a good print. Well Rhino isnt a HUGE money company as well but at least they put effort in restoring the ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Classic "B" horror movie
Don't listen to all of the negative reviews on here. I'll be the first to say that the print is not perfect. Yes, there are some cracks & pops in the sound, and there are some scratches on the film, more in a few spots than others. But overall, this DVD is not anywhere near as bad as the naysayers would lead you to believe. The quality is actually pretty good for an obscure film this old. I have absolutely no regrets about buying this DVD.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not ironically good
This is probably one of the few Troma productions I can call good and mean it unironically. I appreciate the idea behind Troma and always feel good about its very existence, but for the most part they keep to cheesy horror flicks that I just can't take seriously.

This one's pretty good, though. It's one part Village of the Damned, one part Romero, a touch of The Incredible Shrinking Man, and a tad of the usual Troma-tic effects (rubbery burn marks and gratuitous nudity). It follows a story ... Read More
