Celtic Tiger appears to be Michael Flatley's attempt at a concept album--a loose tracing of the Irish through history, from prehistoric times, to pesky run-ins with Vikings and British soldiers, to St. Paddy driving out the snakes, to... the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders? (Who knew so many of them were Irish?) The spectacle of it all is grand and ambitious in the best way of the new Las Vegas shows (O'Siegfried and McRoy?), and Flatley, the genius behind Riverdance and all its toe-tapping offspring, is simply undaunted. By anything. The traditional Irish dance, fiddling, and piping his fans adore are separated by slower segments using Martha Graham-esque modern set pieces, all well performed. But the audience doesn't really come alive unless it's Flatley, bedecked in his finery (one fave: a Gladiator tog to make Russell Crowe envious) and executing his precise, mind-bending choreography. As usual, he's surrounded himself with troupes of the best hoofers on the planet, and the comeliest female fiddlers this side of the Dixie Chicks. One of many highlights: "Celtic Fire," just Flatley on flute surrounding by the fiddling femme fatales at a dervish pace. A bonus featurette shows some behind the scenes, mostly in slow-mo, of the work going into mounting the ambitious show in Budapest. --A.T. Hurley

- Absolutely the best of the IRISH dance dvd's!!!!I have seen Riverdance and Celtic Tiger is superior by far! Michael Flately has out done himself with this one! If you are only going to buy one IRISH dance DVD than this is the one to get. You will not be disappointed.

- Not As Uplifting, Video Too Jumpy, Topic NationalisticI have studied Michael Flatley's other dance videos, and this one is simply not as uplifting as Feet of Flames. All of Flatley's dance videos have video switching on speed dial, some worse than others. For someone in complete awe of Irish music and dance, I want to study what the dancers are doing for more than 3/4 second. This is not the worst of the bunch; that prize goes to the original Lord of the Dance video; a sore sight for the eyes.

- Was this supposed to be a comedy???I have been a fan of Irish Dance for many years and enjoyed many parts of Flatley's other productions. I rented this DVD expecting to gleen some positives out of it as well. I was disappointed. The "story" was hard to follow, the women's costumes quite bare, and Michael oblivious to how silly the whole thing was. Other than a few short instances of Michael's amazing dancing, my Irish dancing daughter and I actually laughed ourselves to tears at times as we watched this.

- Celtic TigerThis is an excellent show, especially if you like a lot of live dancing. These dancers are really putting their sole into this. Would recommend it highly to anyone. My husband and I will enjoy for months to come. We also enjoy his other works. Hope to see more.

- An Irish History in music.Michael Flatley has done it again. With the flavor of "River Dance" and Lord of the Dance" he goes on to show the history, struggles, and success of Ireland in music. If you know a bit of Irish history you will see the story unfold in an enjoyable and foot tapping way, that makes you think as the same time.
