- Overall, pleased with this hearth guard
Installation was pretty easy, no complaints there. It clamps on pretty firmly, our little one (9-1/2 mos) has not been able to pull it off, so far. It's perhaps a tad on the pricey side (once you add the extension, as we needed for our long hearth), but that's my only complaint. Overall, if you want peace-of-mind with the sharp corner on your hearth, this guard will give it to you.

I bought the Kids Edge Hearth Pad WITH Metal Frame (Taupe Color) and installed it on a hearth 77" wide and 20" deep. Installation took 30 minutes, tops, going at a leisurely pace, and was easy for even someone not considered very handy. There is only one section of padding that you have to cut yourself (the majority of the padding is already permanently attached to the metal frame.) My husband said this was easy to install. Also, although the color is much lighter than our red brick fireplace, it looks find. Blends right into the room. It gives us peace of mind and although we actually had to get rid of our coffee table (one accident too many) and move the piano into a safer place, we feel so much safer with this padding around the fireplace. My son plays on and around the hearth and has had no injuries. Yeah!

I have been canvasing the internet for some type of guard to cover the hearth in our family room. I have read countless reviews of the "double faced tape foam pads" that come off right away with little effort.
This product attached exactly as described. I had the unit installed as well as the pads measured, cut and installed in 10 minutes.
