Amazon.com:
It looks like The West Wing, it feels like 24--it must be Commander in Chief. Created by critic-turned-filmmaker Rod Lurie (The Contender) and produced by Steven Bochco (NYPD Blue) and Dee Johnson (E.R.), the political drama reeled in the accolades and awards during its first year. Unfortunately, ABC bounced the show around so often, even pulling it from the schedule for a hiatus, that it failed to attract enough viewers to justify a second--let alone full--22-episode season.

As the series continues, tensions between the US and North Korea have reached critical mass ("No Nukes is Good Nukes," the conclusion to a two-part episode from the first set). President Mackenzie Allen (a commanding Geena Davis) is doing what she can to extract an American submarine stranded in sovereign waters. If she can't come up with a plan in time, the crew will die. Worse yet, North Korea could declare war. In this episode, the Independent will also decide to run for re-election--against Republican Speaker of the House Nathan Templeton (Donald Sutherland as a deceptively genial snake)--setting the stage for the rest of the year.

Other developments include compromising photographs concerning Kyle Secor's First Gentleman ("State of the Unions"), the resignation of a key cabinet member ("Ties That Bind"), and a bout of appendicitis, which leads to Templeton becoming Leader of the Free World--for a day ("The Elephant in the Room"). The series ends with "Unfinished Business," in which Templeton makes his bid for the White House official and political consultant Dickie McDonald (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) reveals his true colors. Bonus features include deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and episode commentaries from Lurie and Johnson. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

It came in half the time and the quality of packaging and the disk were 100%. I wouldn't hesitate to do business again and in fact am encouraged to and will.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best-In-Class Series
This series is about the the political drama created by the first female president of the United States. The Female President Mackenzie Allen is played superbly by Geena Davis, who does an amazing job in demonstrating how a female would handle difficult situations. For us, this series has become a favorite to watch with teenagers, stopping the DVD at every question to ensure understanding of government, politics, and acronyms. A superb learning tool.

The situations are excellent, the ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - All in all, worth a watch.
If you are expecting a realistic treatise on the job of the President of the United States of America, DO NOT watch this show. If you are looking for something refreshing, a good looking woman as President, and interesting enough (if not realistic enough) situations in foreign policy, diplomacy, politics and the day-to-day life of "the first family" then WATCH THIS SHOW. You will end up watching these episodes one after another because the storyline keeps you wanting more. There is adequate "hook" ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - COMMANDER IN CHIEF IS TRULY BRILLIANT TV SHOW !!
I SAW THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF PART 1 AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT GEENA DAVIS IS BRILLIANT AS THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT. I TRULY LOVE THE SHOWS REALISM AND CONFLICT ISSUES WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE. I THINK THAT ITS VERY DISAPPOINTING THAT A SHOW LIKE THIS DIDNT STAY ON THE AIR. I HEARD A LOT OF BUZZ ABOUT THIS SHOW AND MY BROTHER JASON WAS TELLING ME THAT ITS SUPPOSED TO BE REALLY GOOD SO I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE SHOW AND I WAS HOOKED FROM THE FIRST EPISODE. I THOUGHT THE PERFORMANCES ON THE ... Read More
