Editorial Review:Product Description:It's small in size, but don't be fooled... HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger is big on functionality. Get ready to take your office on the road and work where you want, when you want; easily doing your e-mail, making calls, setting up appointments, and getting all your projects done.
Amazon.com Product Description:Eschewing the curvy yet bulky design of its iconic iPAQ Pocket PCs of old, the HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger offers a downright svelte design as well as the power of the Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system (for non-touchscreen phones). In addition to its quad-band GSM/EDGE network communication capabilities, the iPAQ 510 also offers built-in Wi-Fi for VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) telephony over open 802.11b/g networks. Other features include a range of voice commands, 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity for communication headsets, expansion via MicroSD memory cards, and up to 6.5 hours of talk time.

A slim and svelte Windows Mobile 6 workhorse, the iPAQ 510 weighs just 3.6 ounces and is easily pocketable. |
The new Windows Mobile 6 operating system enables you to view and edit Word and Excel documents as well as provides instant message capabilities via Windows Live Messenger. (See more details about Windows Mobile 6 below.) You'll also get an enhanced Outlook Mobile experience that enables you to view emails in their original HTML format and enjoy quick access to contacts with the ability to search a call history and contacts database. The iPAQ 510 is also very enterprise-friendly as it's the first iPAQ device to offer the over-the-air device management capabilities from Bitfone, which can be used by IT managers to remotely support the iPAQ's performance, security and access to applications, data and networks.
Nicely compact, the iPAQ 510 measures just 0.64 inches thin and weighs 3.6 ounces. It has a 2-inch micro-reflective TFT screen with a 176 x 222-pixel resolution and an LED backlight. The phone offers 128 MB of ROM (which stores the Windows Mobile 6 operating system and applications) and 64 MB of SDRAM (which can be used to store user files), and it provides approximately 65 MB of available ROM storage and 44 MB of SDRAM memory. It's expandable using MicroSD memory cards, which currently max out at 2 GB of storage. The address book is only limited by the available memory, and you can store up to 12 numbers per entry as well as home and work addresses, e-mail, IM screen name, and more. For caller ID purposes, you can pair a contact with a photo, a caller group, or one of 28 ringtones.

Use the keypad to access functions within Outlook, Word, and Excel, or use the iPAQ 510's 20 voice commands for easy hands-free operation. |

The built-in camera on the back of the phone can capture 1.3-megapixel still photos as well as video clips. |
It has a 12-key numeric phone keyboard and a blocky 5-way navigation controller. Because this phone runs the Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition, which doesn't support touch screens, you'll have to use the controller and keypad for accessing functions. The iPAQ 510 also offers more than 20 voice commands for easy hands-free operation. Using a powerful "voice reply" feature, you can reply to email by dictating and sending a voice response, without the need for any typing. You can also listen to email and text messages, navigate through phone and calendar tasks, and speak to start applications.
The camera on the back of the phone has a 1.3-megapixel resolution, and it offers five quality settings--from QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) to SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels, good enough for snapshot prints). It supports GIF, JPEG, BMP, and PNG file formats. It can also shoot short video clips at 176 x 144 pixels.
In addition to Bluetooth wireless capability (version 1.2) for hands-free headsets, the iPAQ 510 also has a 2.5mm jack for using wired headset and stereo headphones. Connect to your PC via Bluetooth or USB (version 1.1).
Vital Statistics The HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger weighs 3.6 ounces and measures 4.21 x 1.91 x 0.64 inches. Its 1100 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6.5 hours of talk time, and up to 7.8 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty, and 90 days of software technical support.
Powered by Windows Mobile 6
Windows Mobile 6 adds power to your mobile office with up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars. |

Edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets on your phone, just as you would on your desktop/laptop PC. |
Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6 updates the Windows Mobile 5 platform with a number of handy features that make searching through email, editing Microsoft Office documents, and staying on top of your most important communications even easier. Emails can now be viewed in their original rich HTML format and now offer the ability to visit embedded links. It also includes Windows Live for Windows Mobile, which provides a full set of Windows Live services, such as the Windows Live Messenger IM application, which now enables you to chat with more than one person at one time or send a file.
With Windows Mobile 6, your phone will finally be able to emulate the power and features of your PC's Microsoft Office suite. You'll be able to neatly view, navigate and edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in their original formatting--without affecting tables, images or text--as well as view PowerPoint presentations.
- Microsoft Office Word Mobile features include spell-check, Find and Replace commands, bulleted lists, text formatting, and support for tables for the first time.
- With Excel Mobile, youÕre not just confined to editing charts: with the new Chart Wizard you can create charts quickly and easily.
- PowerPoint Mobile allows you to view the full presentation, rehearse timings, check the order and any live links you may have in your presentation. You can then email comments back to the team or communicate via MSN Messenger for an immediate response.
- After creating or editing a Word document or Excel spreadsheet, you can synchronize it with your PC and it will automatically be converted to the PC version.
All Windows Mobile 6 powered devices include Direct Push Technology for up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. It also offers a set of important device security and management features that include the capability to remotely wipe all data from a device should it be lost or stolen, helping ensure that confidential information remains that way.

This cellphone is just what I expected, friends keep asking me about it, good looking, well built, good applications. A little slower, but get the job done. User friendly, I don't need to read the manual to use it. The unlocked option works fine, I already use it with two different cellular service providers. With a MicroSD and a bluetooth stereo headset is an excellent media player. Good choice...

This is my first smartphone. May be someone could say that I have no experience enough to give a good review. Anyway, here I go!!
I am a computer enthusiast and I was looking for a mobile that could let me browse the internet via wi-fi to check my e-mail inbox and keep me in touch with my friends and I found this small bar of Technology.
The first thing I did was to buy an antivirus for smartphones and it is running smoothly.
The first time I used this to chat on msn messenger ...

The Hp Ipaque 510 is a mid range product with enhanced voice capabilities. The resolution of the camera is a bit of a turn off at 1.3 megapixels and the the phone can be really irritating at times when it doesnt act as expected when you try to enter some voice commands. Overall though, it is a good phone since it has a range of features such as windows mobile six, microsoft mobile office (with word which supports edit mode), windows media player and up to 2Gig storage on a mini-sd card.

I'm no cell phone afficianado, so I don't have religion about the gizmos. I was looking for something that would allow me to get rid of my separate Palm PDA (I'm so sick of handwriting recognition...) and T-Mobile prepaid phone (I don't talk much, so 100 bucks for 1000 minutes good for a year is absolutely perfect) in a compact package that wouldn't threaten to tear my shirt pocket off. I've had the iPAQ 510 about a week as a refurb from eBay, and I love it.
The positives are that ...
