Editorial Review:Product Description:Amazing McKayla is an adorable baby doll that utilizes voice recognition, sensory technology and articulated animatronics to offer the most complete and revolutionary nurturing play. She expresses realistic emotions, learns to speak, sees and hears what's happening around her, and plays baby games. She even "recognizes" her accessories and eats the same foods that a baby eats. Includes dress, baby bottle, jar of pretend food, spoon and small teddy bear. Requires 4 "AA" batteries, not included. Measures 14" tall.
Amazon.com Product Description:For a realistic take on what mommy does all day, introduce your little girl to McKayla. This interactive doll uses technology to let "mommy" learn what it's like to feed, play with, talk to, change, and, of course, love a baby all day long. Voice recognition technology allows McKayla to learn your voice, turn toward you when you talk, and engage in two-way communication. Her speech improves gradually as you spend time with her. The more time you spend teaching her words, the faster she picks it up and the better her language becomes. Sensory technology allows McKayla to see and track objects, like her teddy bear, bottle, and feeding spoon. If mommy moves these things side to side in front of McKayla, the doll's head will follow the movements. Articulated animatronics provide her lifelike movement and expressions.
|
McKayla will let you know she is hungry and will move her head to follow the spoon. |
McKayla can recognize the objects in front of her and likes to play games. |
To make the experience even more realistic, McKayla will let you know what she would like. When she wants food, she'll say "Hun-gee, Ma-ma!" which is your cue to give her either her bottle or feed her some peas. When she's feeling cuddly, she'll say "I love to be held
big hug, please!" Once mommy holds her, she recognizes the voice and stops asking. All in all, Amazing McKayla has seven distinct cries, and like all new moms, your little girl will have to discern between her sick cry vs. her tired cry vs. her hungry cry and so on. But one of the cries is for entertainment, and McKayla has four interactive games, such as Peek-a-Boo, that she enjoys playing. After a long day of learning new things, you can gently rock the doll to sleep. If she's really exhausted, she might even snore!
Amazing McKayla is 14" tall and requires four AA batteries, not included. She comes dressed in a lavender smock with a matching bracelet on her wrist and bow in her blond hair. Her accessories include a bottle, a teddy bear, a jar of peas, and a feeding spoon.

it was FUN watching the reaction on my 2 1/2 year old niece face when this doll got going. educational? yeah, never buy a doll that wants to have a conversation for anyone under 3. durable? yeap, will last forever in the top of the closet. overall the laughs were worth the cost.

I bought this doll for my grand neice who just turned six. The doll started out o.k. but whenever she asks "Where's momma?" before you have a chance to respond she cuts in with "oopsie you can say Mommie's here" When she cries, you have to wait until she stops before you can say the one word phrase that is supposed to find out what's wrong but the doll says "no" and begins to cry again and before you can say another word, she starts with the seven words all over again. After the second try if my ...

I bought this doll for my daughter at the end of December. We finally gave it to her last week. She has sat on a shelf, up high, until we had the chance to play with her together. Today we sat down to "learn" McKayla. The first thing I noticed was an extremely loud "hummmmm" (buzzing noise) coming from the doll, in her tummy area. The doll will talk and ask to say her name, but no matter who said her name, she couldn't "hear" us. My daughter tried and I tried several times, to no avail. She just ...

McKayla was a birthday gift for my 6 yr old. We have 3 girls and when McKayla is out she is the show! Everyone waits to see what she'll do or ask for next. We have not had any trouble with her not responding, but it is a little aggravating that she always tells you what to ask her. And her responses are a little slow. We mind it as parents, but my 6 yr old says it's great since she doesn't have to remember everything that McKayla needs and she has time to respond! She will act different when she needs ...

This was a gift from Santa to my daughter and it was exciting at first, but you practically have to yell at the doll for it to understand you and it doesn't listen if it is speaking. It has a slow response time, but otherwise is a very cute doll. My daughter has had some great fun with it, but tends to play with it only for short periods of time because she hates yelling at it.
