- ActionTec MegaPlug Wireless Network ExtenderI purchased this product because my service provider (Verizon FIOS) provided a ActionTec router as part the service. I do not believe it will work with other (non-ActionTec routers).
Warning! You will need a plug adapter as well! I ordered the network extender (standalone) and then figured out I would need the plug adapter as well. So there are three pieces of hardware in my home "infrastructure":
1) ActionTec router (provided to me by Verizon)
2) ActionTec plug adapter

- Useless unless you also order MegaPlug 85Mbps Ethernet Adapter along with itIn order to use this item, you have to have the associated Actiontec Ethernet Adapter (Part Number HPE100T) to plug into your router. This is necessary to communicate with the Extender. It would have been nice to know that when I bought this. It is basically impossible to find the ethernet adapter by itself, so I will have to return this extender.

- Seamless addition to existing megaplug devices...I started with two wired Megaplug adapters that work perfectly from one end of the house to the other. As with those, adding this wireless adapter was very easy. A little more configuration was required to set up wireless security and a static IP (not required, just my preference), but that was the worst of it. - No interoperability...I have an existing powerline network based on Linksys PLE200 adaptors...which work very well and are easy to setup, btw. I attempted to extend a wireless node using the Megaplug extender, but it won't work with a Linksys unit (or any other) on the router/powerline end. From Actiontec support:
