Editorial Review:

Product Description:
MLB Power Pros 2008 delivers a unique flair to America's favorite pastime with an original visual style, pick-up-and-play gameplay mechanics and several deep gameplay modes. Gamers also get the opportunity to act as general manager and control the destiny of their own franchise in Season mode, or engage in entertaining role-playing story modes such as Success and MLB Life modes. As general manager, gamers can trade, sign free agents, coordinate practice schedules, purchase new equipment, call up and send down players from the Minor Leagues; along with other management strategies to bring in fans, win play-off games, and eventually earn the title of World Series champion. In Success mode, fans can participate in a story-based career of rising players in the Double-A Minor League system trying to improve their baseball skills and make an impression on baseball scouts while also having to balance various situations in their personal lives. Through a variety of amusing training and game challenges, players who complete Success mode will also be able to take their created player files into MLB Life as well, or also play as either an existing Major League Baseball player in Dream Mode, or start as a rookie in Major League Career mode. While continuing to play in games through the regular baseball season, you will also participate in a number of realistic situations such as signing contracts, purchasing houses and cars, making charitable donations, building up relationships with friends and teammates, picking up hobbies and much more. With easy pick-up-and-play hitting and pitching controls, along with intuitive Wii functionality, other new features in MLB Power Pros 2008 include support of 40-man rosters, change of ball speed, adjustment of defensive shifts, along with a real-time bullpen check functionality for substituting pitchers. MLB Power Pros 2008 will also support the option for importing Miis, Wii-based character

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best baseball game in a while
Granted, I never had the chance to play the predecessor to this game...but as it stands, this is the best baseball game I've ever played as a video game. The graphics are crisp, the play-by-play is OK (not spectacular, but not distractingly bothersome either.)

Unlike baseball games made by EA (and others), some rookie, light-hitting second baseball isn't going to start hitting 550 foot bombs just because you're controlling them...there is a definite amount of realism here that isn't ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great game, some minor flaws
This is a great baseball game with a ton of features. This is easily the most in-depth baseball game you'll play, the players are cartoonish and mere caricatures of themselves, but that's one of my favorite parts, to see what a Johan Santana cartoonish looking little guy would look like, the creators of this game did a great job. Creating your own player is really fun, just like creating a mii character. However, when it comes to using that player in the game, you must play success mode (which is easily ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Game for Baseball Lovers
If you're like us, you take your Wii Sports seriously. I mean, who hasn't torn ligaments while blasting balls out of the park in the Home Run Derby?

Well, now that you've finished your rounds of physical therapy and recovered you're looking for a little more baseball. Enter MLB Power Pros 2008. This game is the hands down answer for anyone in your family who likes a good sports game.

There are two big factors that drew us to the game. First and foremost, this game costs $10 less ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Konami
This is the most famous and popular baseball game in Japan.
Children, students, adults, old people, ladies, and gentlemen, all of them love this series for NPB(Japanese National Pro Baseball).

"POWER PROS" is known as "Pawamajor" in Japan.
This is the major league version of "Pawapuro" series.

Although game part is great, but I don't love "Pawamajor" or "Pawapuro"
not so "Pawapuro kun Pocket".

Pawapuro kun Pocket series are for the portable game hards ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great for two person play. Solo is too easy.
Most Wii owners start with Wii Sports. The baseball game in there is pretty basic but enough fun to point at Wii's potential. MLB Pro can be considered as a spruced up version, with much better graphics and real MLB rosters. It becomes my son's favorite Wii game instantly. We have had a lot of good time playing against each other.

The solo part of the game is too easy, however. My son, on his first try, beats the CPU 12-0 in 3 innings. He never plays solo again. Unfortunately and strangely, the ... Read More
