I have a very hard time reconciling those reviews with high star ratings based on my experience, which mirrors that of those who say this doesn't cool. The new version of the product has a plastic sleeve that gives a more accurate temperature reading but why care when it takes all day to chill the bottle of white? It is unbelievably noisy when operating and couldn't possibly be used any place you want to have a conversation. - Like it coldWe like the wine chiller as we no longer need to mess with bags of ice to have our white wines chilled throughout an entire evening. You can hear the fan as the chiller is working, but is quiet enough that a little soft music in the background or conversation covers any occasional "whir".
