Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Henley's and Rock's Best
This CD represents the best of Don Henley and also the best music in rock. Some really great songs are on this CD like the End of the Innocence and Boys of Summer. This CD is a must have for your rock collection!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Okay, he's politically inclined...
but he writes some great music. This set gives you a great glimpse into his solo career. And, it's the only place you can find "You Don't Know Me At All," and the maginifcently perverse "The Garden of Allah." Henley is at his best when he's being sarcastic, and this set shows that well. Not a bad track on the disc!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Don Henley's biggest hits
I was impressed for the most part with this album. It really is Don Henley's best songs. The first time you listen to Actual Miles, you'll notice the big hits such as "Dirty Laundry," "Sunset Grill," "The End of the Innocence," "The Last Worthless Evening," "The Heart of the Matter," "All She Wants to Do is dance," and one of my favorite songs of all time, "The Boys of Summer." I liked all the biggest hits on this cd, but the songs that weren't real big hits i wasn't that crazy about except for "New York Minute," whose message couldn't be more true. I wasn't impressed with some of the songs such as "The Garden of Allah" and "I Will Not Go Quietly" at all. My other complaint is that the song "Love Just Ain't Enough" should've been included on here because it was a good duet and a big hit.

It's easy to tell that Don Henley took a lot of his skills that he had with The Eagles and incorporated them into his solo career. Not only is he still a great singer, but when you listen to these songs you'll see that they have well crafted and intelligent lyrics and most of the songs have a good beat to them along with a great melodic sound. Overall, I should give Actual Miles 3 stars because I only really liked the biggest hits, but since it has some of my favorite songs and because I bought it over a week ago and haven't been able to quit playing some of the songs yet, I'm gonna give it 4 stars. If you're a Don Henley or Eagles fan and you don't already have all of Don Henley's cd's, I'd recommend getting Actual Miles to add to your collection. The actual miles that you travel down the road and the actual time you spend listening to this album will probably be pretty high.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Near Perfect Greatest Hits
Despite the cynical (and hilarous) cover, this is really quite an adequate Greatest Hits albums. It includes almost all of the best songs from Don's solo career. I like Don Henley's music because he's honest, he's not fooling anybody, and he tells you what he really thinks in his songs, instead of just catering to the audience like so many others. This is rare in an artist today; you have to dig through an awful lot of boy bands and sell-outs to get to the Don Henleys, Roger Waters, and Bruce Springsteens. Anyway, this has most of Don's best songs that are both lyrically cynical and honest as well as still managing to be melodic. Dirty Laundry, The Boys of Summer, New York Minute, etc. are all great tracks, and The Heart of the Matter (one of my favorite ballads), The End of the Innocence, and others are flat out masterpieces. Buy this album if you want a good overview of Don's solo career, although it is missing a few songs, which is why I have it 4 stars instead of 5.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Controversy, schmontroversy..this is a great album!
Decadent, depraved lyrics? Compared to today? Get thee real. This album is a throwback to the times when you bought an album for all the songs on it, not just one.

Classics like "Dirty Laundry" and "Boys of Summer", and Miami Vice's "All She Wants to Do is Dance" are nostalgic. But, let me tell you I had never heard "In the Garden of Allah" (okay, I was asleep that decade), and it completely grew on me, so that now it is one of my favorite songs of the album.

"New York Minute" is disturbing enough to bother you subconsciously, and "End of the Innocence" is thoughtful.

This album is what I would call a Jukebox Keeper (if you were filling a jukebox with the best albums throughout the years, which ones would you choose?), along with "Eagles Live", and "The Very Best of Robert Palmer".
