Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Truckin' Up to Buffalo: July 4, 1989 -Grateful Dead
Awesome DVD-had to have it was at the show. It is truly one of their best performances, they were definately on some good stuff that night!! seriously it is a great addition to any collection.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Solid Dead
The Dead over it's long and storied career has ebb's and flows in terms
of greatness. Many fans will prefer certian periods to others, some of the time the later era dead being subject of harsher criticism based on the Jerry's health at the time etc etc.
I think the for this time period 1989 this is solid dead set. If you like
"dozin at the knick" you'll like this one. The dvd is even better.
To watch a band play as a band with no ego's just good music, this is a good one. The set is spirited as well, top quality Dead.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Era for the Grateful Dead!!!
wow, i must say this is one of the better shot dead dvds.. the show is no sleeper either.. this is a great dvd for all dead fans.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wow!
This DVD is fantastic. The Grateful Dead were really on that night. I wish I can add more than others have already said on this site, but the easiest thing to say is if you like the Dead - get it! If you haven't been a fan before, but you enjoy good music and good performances - get it! If you are not a patient music listener and more into commercial music - then you might want to consider looking elsewhere.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Tremendous Performance
I just recently acquired this DVD, and it is truly awesome. I saw the Dead only twice, both times in '88, and I think this show probably has both of those beat. Of course, nothing can compare to the live Dead experience, but this movie comes pretty close to capturing it.

The band is in VERY FINE FORM, playing tightly together, but also having fun. Every member shows their inspiration in a different way, from the typically animated Bob to the apparently glacially cool drummers, but if you close your eyes and listen to the interweaving notes and rhythms, you will realize just how involved every player is in making this incredible musical tapestry. Oh yeah, and the Dolby 5.1 sound is unbelievably well done.

5 stars out of 5, no doubt about it. Nothing from the 80's time period even comes close. Easily beats Ticket to New Year's and Dead Ahead. Grab it. -Adam, from Cleveland, OH.
