Rating: - Good basic samba - not a cardio party
I was bored many times and had fun many times during this workout. I am good at latin rythms and did find some of this fun but the setups went on forever. In the end it was too long and didn't hold my attention. I will keep it for a once in a blue moon workout - but didn't sweat much at all. Need to focus my time on quick and hard interval training - this is just a fun and authentic dance class. I must say though having gone to a live samba class in nyc I always learn more from tapes. Thanks!

it sounds corny, but this workout really did make me smile! it's really just a lot of fun-- the music is great, and vanessa is charming. as far as the difficulty of the moves/ choreography goes-- i have just a small amount of dance history, and by the 2nd time i did this workout, i was able to keep up nicely. i feel like the amount of instruction time that she gives is just right. i highly recommend this dvd to anyone looking for a fun way to work up a good sweat.
Rating: - for a former dancer, it's like coming home
I bought this DVD at a discount store a couple of years ago and finally got around to putting it on tonight...and oh my goodness, I LOVED it! It's the first dance/exercise video I've found that actually feels like a dance class. So many videos stop so often to break things down that you don't actually get much of a workout, but this one feels very much like an advanced dance class or even an audition - they show it to you up to tempo, then you do it at half tempo once or twice, and then you do it up to tempo. I can't remember the last time I smiled through a workout, but I was so happy doing this one that I actually laughed!
It would definitely be challenging for people who've never really danced. And maybe really serious dancers would find it too easy. But for people like me, who *used to* be dancers but haven't set foot in a dance class in five or six years, it's absolutely perfect. I can't wait to do it again!

The best part--you learn the basics of two dances at the same time! I was smiling throughout the whole workout, it's non-stop, fat-burning, sweat-pouring, liberating fun! I recommend it to anyone who is in medium shape and is borred with the other dance workout videos.

it is fun to watch, and the music is great, however the workout itself was a bit too complicated for this very uncoordinated 40-something
