I just purchased the Canon BU-20 Bluetooth adapter to go with my Canon Pixma520 and Apple iMac ( which runs Leopard X 10.5) and am totally disappointed. I was trying to have as few wired connections as possible, which tempted me to buy this adapter in the first place. However, I CAN'T SCAN a single thing!!! I spent close to $50 on something that doesn't fully replace a standard $10 USB cable!
I admit I'm a little new to "bluetooth" technology, but I had no idea you could "never" transmit scans over a bluetooth connection ( as the Canon rep told me) because the data volume is too large.
In order to get the most out of your Canon printer ( and use all 3 functions) you'll still need a USB cable. So if you have an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier and actually want to get your money's worth...don't bother with this adapter...take the extra money and get a better model printer.
But if you use your printer as a network printer for multiple computers or are absolutely forced to have the printer set-up more than arm's reach away...and only plan on using it to print...then go for it!
As for me...my iMac and printer are 2" from one another on my desk....I'll find a way to hide the USB cable behind it!
Pros:
-I can successfully send/print photos from my iMac or Blackjack II with no problems or delay from any room in my apartment!
-I can make numerous copies of a document (which has nothing to do with Bluetooth, I know!)
-I ordered the adapter late Tuesday night, received it Thursday afternoon. (only to expedite the inevitable!)
Cons:
- I can't scan a single item without a USB cable! Which totally negates getting the adaptor in the first place. Thank God Amazon has a great return policy!

First off, despite what you may have read, this adapter most definitely DOES work both ways! You can easily print and controll ALL functions of your printer AND you do get ink cart status readings! Anyone who says that they dont get ink readings is blaming the wrong thing. They need to blame themselves as they are no doubt using non-Canon or refurbished carts. New carts come with an attached microchip that reads the status. Most, but not all, refurbished carts do NOT have the chip and therefore do NOT have the ability to read the ink level. You should use only OEM cart with Canon products for this and other reasons; poor quality ink found in cheap refubs will damage the print head. This adapter works just fine, but it is admittedly more costly than it should be. The features you have depend on your printer and your drivers, not on the adapter. I have used it without any problem with my iP6220D in XP and Vista, and with my iP6220D and my new MP610 in Vista without ANY issue at all! My HP DV9500 has a built-in Bluetooth card. Absolutely fantastic!

I have a Mac with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and it's been pretty much plug-and-play.

Any Class I bluetooth adapter would work in its place! The only thing to keep in mind is that the adapter that you should get one that has a USB extension cord in order to let it fit into the small port on the printer. Please dont buy this and waste money. I have a $8.00 bluetooth adapter that works great! Enjoy your printer :)
PS. I am using it with MP460 and my comp is running Vista Ultimate. I have installed the vista compatible drivers for MP460 that I got from the canon's website (European).

Handy little gadget. Wish the range was a tad bit more, but not having to always mess with wires & switching back & forth from different computers is really nice!
