I got this to be able to listen to my iPod though the car stereo speakers instead of using a single ear bud (to still be able to hear emergency vehicles). I wanted something portable so that I could take it in either my car or my wife's car. Without installation hassles.
This model has the added bonus of being able to charge the iPod which will be quite useful on long trips.
This model lest you select three presets for convenient changes when you run into interference, which you will eventually run into, especially if you travel. There are FCC rules on the output power of these FM transmitters, so if there is local station on the same frequency (or adjacent frequency) you will get some interference. You can switch frequencies, disconnect/lower the antenna, or move the transmitter closer to the antenna to help alleviate the interference.
I have found that I can manually tune my car radio to a clear frequency, then manually tune the transmitter to the same channel all without taking my eyes from the road, just feeling the buttons while the transmitter rests on my lap. I would suggest you practice the procedure before you try it while driving, as some people have trouble chewing gum and driving at the same time.

- Decent signal but will NOT charge your iPhoneThis works for in the SF Bay Area where lots of other FM transmitters failed to relay a decent signal, but it won't charge the iPhone. If it weren't for that, I would have given it five stars.

- Not for me!I had an iGriffin and had no problems. It was stolen so I purchased the Monster iCarPlay. The transmission is weak and fades out no matter what station you select. The presets were difficult to set. I am going to buy another iGriffin.
