- WorksI left the map light on overnight on my 2002 Toyota Highlander and it wouldn't start the next day.
I took my bicycle out and road 2 miles to my nearest Target store and bought this and cycled back. I was a bit sceptical after reading the reviews.
I charged it up for 5 hours; the charge light hadn't stopped flashing - but it was getting dark and I decided to chance my luck. I plugged it in the 12V Acc port in the Highlander. It beeped and did nothing. I then turned the key to "Acc" (as per manual) and then tried again - bingo - the green light started flashing.
After 15 minutes the light stopped flashing and I could then start the car.
I then charged the Booxter up again overnight and I'll put this in the glove box.
Nice product.

- BB7B B&D Simple StartThis unit has a known defect, it continually beeps while charging. Not only does the unit not charge but the sound is too annoying to stand. B&D's remedy of turning the unit on and off several times does not work either. Be on the safe side and do not buy this product.

- look for an alternativeI had the same problem that others did. Fresh from the box, the device wouldn't charge. I called the manufacturer and they acknowledged the known problem. They tried to help me "reset" it but that didn't work. I purchased mine at a local hardware store. It is going back this weekend.
This thing looks like a great idea for my wife - if it works.

- Black & Decker Simple Start Battery BoosterMy son left his car with me and the battery went dead. I hoped I could use this to get it going, but it didn't happen. I'm not great at using jumper cables. Guess this is good if my car needs a boost in cold weather - we shall see.
