- WOW - Truly AmazingI watched this the other day right after the #1s DVD and the difference and growth in this woman is AMAZING. I'm not one of those 'I like the old Mariah' fans because I see her as she really is - one and the same. The stigma attached to Mariah is the same as with Michael and Janet Jackson - they all GREW UP; and the world didn't know how to handle them as a result.
But back to my enjoyment of the release, to see how much she has grown and evolved is SUCH an amazing thing. Her vocals on this are stellar and undeniable. Part of what creates the ambience is the shyness and vulnerability she hadn't yet learned how to mask, hence part of the reason the media tore it bits at the time.
Even though she displays some unparalleled expertise here, I think it shows that it hasn't even occured to her to try some of the more complex texturalisations she she risks in her vocals in later years; though her love for the 'wall of sound' effect is very clear on songs like 'Someday' with the Price Sisters' team work.
Truly a 'must-have' this will DEFINITELY be an addition to my collection before the year is out!
