Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great birthday gift
I purchased this for my nephew's 15th birthday. He loves drumming and the medium of jazz. He played the DVD immediately after receiving the gift and music filled the air all afternoon as he played it again and again and again. It was gratifying.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Drumming legend...
Great talent, obviously, with this lineup of musicians. To see "Moanin" performed by the actual author is a real treat. Decent sound, check it out!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Art Blakey Live '58 Jazz Ic ons
A definite American cultural treasure. Outstanding exceptional high quality of both video and audio from 1958 even by today's standards. A tremendous contribution to the preservation of America's only true music art form. My deepest respect to the enourmous creativity and cultural contribution of the highest order by Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers et al.

A stunning discovery in Belgian archives of a concert in Brussels in 1958 with the famous line-up with Benny Golson (tenor) and Lee Morgan (trumpet) that lasted only 6 months. Benny Golson's now famous compositions like 'I Remember Clifford' and Whisper Not' are still fresh, and it is incredible to actually see 20-years old Lee Morgan and hear how mature his playing was. The only visual document of a live performance of a legendary group. And excellent quality!
