Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Almost Perfect -- A Great Bluetooth Mouse
I'm never a fan of Microsoft, but they actually got this one darn near perfect. The best thing is tha t the mouse is bluetooth, so you don't need to use a usb receiver if your laptop comes with bluetooth. I also like how long the mouse stays charged. I use it rather heavily for a couple of weeks at a time without having to recharge. Even then, it comes with a nice charger and quickly replenishes the battery.

The mouse is very comfortable and fits well in my hand. My only complaint: it only has one button on the left side. I prefer my old Logitech that had two buttons (one for going forward and the other back). There is a button on the other side, but it's just not very easy to hit.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Wreless Mouse
When I first read the Microsoft Mouse Laser 8000 it read new a a very good price of around $40 dollars, good deal for for an $80 plus dollar being "NEW". It took well 10 days to receive my merchandice form the location in California and I live In California. Once I received my merchandice it was not "NEW" but factory referbushed. I will never do business with company a again and Amazon.com shoud look into this for miss leading the public.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - M/S laser 8000 typical of their mice
The latest Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 is a fine new addition to their lineup of excellent mice. Setup was very easy, and the software loaded with no problems or surprises. The Bluetooth adapter, which plugs into a USB port, was a pleasant surprise. Although I haven't used it for any other device as yet, it will probably come in handy in the future. Doing away with wires was one thing, doing away with the receptor on the desk is another plus.
Be aware that the device requires a USB port, and will not work on the traditional mouse port, because of the Bluetooth adaptor.
The mouse has a pleasant feel, and sufficient bottons (5) including the wheel to handle most requirements. The functions, of course, can be changed from the menu included with the software package. That is similar to all the recent M/S mouse packages that have been released, so their is no real learning curve in the setup and use.
If you need a new mouse, or just want to finally get rid of clutter on your desk, the new Laser 8000 deserves a close look. Prices will vary, and OEM products are also available at lower cost, for the more advanced user. All in all, a fine addition to the M/S hardware line.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pretty good mouse for the money
I picked up the OEM package version $40 from one of Amazon's sellers. Replacing a Logitech MX that no longer likes to hold a charge after about 3 years of use.

Not holding a charge shouldn't be an issue for this mouse you can actually replace the battery in it when it starts going bad.
I'm undecided if I like the smooth scroll feature yet, I'm use to the clicking of my logitech.
Installation was quick and simple
The design does leave a bit to be desired, not as comfortable as the Logitech MX and the right side small button is pretty much useless luckily I rarely use the forward click feature.

Overall I'm fairly pleased for it don't think I could of found any other bluetooth mice that would fair any better for $40 that were rechargable. I wouldn't buy the $80 retail package though.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A full-sized ambidextrous Bluetooth mouse!
This is the mouse I've been searching for. I don't know how I missed it until now. I'm a lefty, so that pretty much rules out all those weird-looking lopsided mice for me. I need an ambidextrous (or lefty -- heh) mouse. I need Bluetooth so that it works with my laptop and doesn't require a dongle. Rechargeable batteries are nice. And since I'm a big guy, I need a full-sized mouse, not those tiny little things designed to work with notebook computers.

This is the first mouse I've found that meets all of these criteria. After 2 days of use, it's still charged, fits great in my hand, and has a logical layout. I've been using wired optical mice for years on my desktops and have no issue with them, but I like this mouse so much, I'm getting 3 more for my various machines.

As a bonus, this mouse comes with a Bluetooth USB dongle, so if you don't have Bluetooth you can add it very easily. Setup for my desktop was painless and quick. I didn't even need a reboot.

The rechargeable battery is AA, so when it wears out, you can find an replacement just about anywhere. The power switch on the bottom of the mouse is a nice feature, as long as I remember to turn it off when not using it.

Tracking is spot-on and even after sitting for several minutes, there's no delay in getting things moving again. Very nice.

This is a slightly pricey mouse, but you won't regret it. I'm going to have about 4 others I've tried up for sale real soon. :)

[UPDATE: In the week or so I've had this mouse, it's been absolutely flawless. I have ordered two more for the machines I use on a regular basis. It would be nice to simply move the mouse from machine to machine, but apparently Bluetooth devices get "paired" and have to be re-paired. No biggie, really, but enough of a pain that I just ordered more mice.]
