Musical Instruments : RP250 Multi Effect Pedal

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very good unit for the price!
Having previously owned a Line6 PodXT, I kinda was hesitant to buy the Digitech RP250 because I didn't know whether it would match or better what the PodXT was giving me. After receiving it and using it for a week, I had my PodXT on ebay. The RP250 really blew the PodXT out of the water for basic tone and effects modelling, and the amp models are better too in my opinion. I was quite surprised as I thought the PodXT was supposedly one of the better multi-effects and amp modelling units. But the RP250 is far better in my opinion, and much easier to adjust presets and individual effect settings right on the unit without having to use the software. Of course, the unit does also plug into the PC and you can create or edit patches on the PC, but I rarely bother with setting all this up. Creating and adjusting settings directly on the unit is very quick and easy, and very logical. There is a great selection of effects and amps, and my favorite amp model (the Vox AC30 TB) is pretty darn close to the real thing. The inbuilt tuner is also dead on and makes tuning of my Strat and Les Paul a breeze. My only regret is that I didn't get the RP350 staright up (which has a few more amps and effects options) but I think I will grab it in a few months since the RP250 has really amazed me. And for the price, it's a real bargain. Great job Digitech!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Packed
Lots of effects can be had with this versatile pedal, which is also easy on the budget. I'm still checking the features out. I find the settings are pushing me to play in certain directions hitherto unexplored. Very cool. The drum beats also try hard to provide variety, and yet, they remain mechanical, acting almost like a pendulum, keeping me on the beat. Good stuff for practice and for working leads around the rhythm. I still have a long way to go before the novelty of this nice piece of engineering wears off.
