Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Shield S5 Review
AWESOME, the only problem is there are not many episodes. Watched the whole season in about 2 days. Now hanging to see season 6.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Season 5 - Over the Hill?
I am a really big fan of the Shield. Though I never watch it first run on FX, I have seasons 1-5 on dvd. I got hooked on the show with the storyline surrounding Michael Jace's character. I have been very, very disappointed that his character not unlike most black characters on tv suddenly has no personal life. However, the rest of the show has been entertaining enough that I continue to watch. Every season I expect the story to resume but it never does.
With season 5, the show is beginning to show its age. Just how many times can Vic get caught - almost - and it still be entertaining. The storylines including the "big" ending of season 5, are totally predictable. I went through all 11 episodes waiting for the "not so surprising" friendly fire. The one highlight of the show was the increadible acting of Forest Whitiker. He is an amazing actor.
I want to keep watching. I hope season 6 heats things back up.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Gritty, Provocative, and Intense.
Not going to address specific story lines - others have already.

The entire 'Shield' series is a juxtaposition of hating yourself for loving these characters...

How can you 'cheer' someone you know is doing bad things - and not always with the best intentions? It is a serious tribute to the Writers, Directors, Cast and Crew - that this show is so well done it enables one to do it.
Season Five propels the show into 'uncharted territory' - where the action is intense, the storylines are 'tight' and 'Murphy's Law' is provoked ["anything that can go wrong - will go wrong"]. Every character faces demons from their past and their future - just when one thought it could not get any worse - it does, and just when one thought there was no hope or redemption - there is (kind of).
The gritty life in these cops' world provokes one to passion: - anger, disgust, pity, pain and compassion. How can a TV show evoke so much?
This is probably the most well done series on television.

Season five is the best of the seasons on DVD. It stands alone - if one has never seen the previous seasons, one could watch this and be as caught up in the `love/hate' relationship the rest of us are... However, if this is one's `introduction' to "Farmington" and `The Shield' - be prepared to go back and get Seasons 1-4.

While very entertaining - it is not for the queasy or faint of heart - this series and this season will wrench your emotions to the core...

One last bit of advice - when you do buy it - don't try and watch it as a marathon - you'll be `rode hard and put away wet', wrung out, and drained if you do.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Show Ever
No dobt about it The Shield is the best show ever made hands down. Every character is multi layered no card board cut out here. Take Vic Mackey an obviously dirty cop but you can't help but take his side. I own all five seasons on dvd and could sit down and watch all 5 back to back if I had time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wicked!
The Shield never fails!! i thought that having run into the fifth season that it might go a little dry but the shield season five is wicked! cant wait for season 6 hope it does not dissapoint!
