Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This Movie Actually Scared Me!!!
I saw this movie at a theatre the night it was being closed down. (I miss that theatre, I had a lot of good memories there!) The funny thing is; I was the only person in the room watching Dead Silence. It got really scary for me. I got scared enough that I literally moved to the back so no one would sneak up behind me and scare me. That part in the hotel room with that red light blinking on and off Billy's face was very creepy. Another part that creeped me out was when the Clown doll is in the rocking chair in the darkness and whispers "Come closer." Being a horror fan, I was surprised about this movie. If you love horror, suspense and creepy dolls, you'll love DEAD SILENCE!!!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not as bad as the reviews
Could have been alot better though. These dolls are creepy anyway, all the elements are here for a real creep fest. If the dolls were more involved with the story, reeking havioc, maybe comming out of the shadows, this would have been a better film. Enjoy!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - "Dead Silence" Does For Ventriloquist Dummies What Stephen King's "It" Did For Clowns
The creators of the controversial blockbuster "Saw" have brought us a modern masterpiece of gothic horror. In the tradition of "Darkness Falls" and "The Ring," another urban legend has been given the big screen treatment. "Dead Silence" involves an elderly, childless ventriloquist named Mary Shaw who is accused of causing the disappearance of a boy from a wealthy family. The townsmen cut out her tongue and murder her. She is buried along with her massive collection of ventriloquist dummies. Soon after, entire families are found murdered with their tongues ripped out. Legend has it that if you see her ghost and scream, you will have your tongue ripped out.

Great performances, a creepy atmosphere of decay and desolation, and a good musical score make "Dead Silence" a must see for fans of gothic horror. I promise that you will never be able to look again at a ventriloquist dummy without shivering.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - fun scary storytelling
i just finished watching this a few minutes ago. my wife picked it up and i had seen it a few times but was not real interested, after watching i have to say im more than surprised by how much fun this movie was to watch! i enjoyed it for the sheer fact it felt like a scary bedtime story that you would hear from your grandma when you were a kid. it wasnt like a typical slasher horror film and if that is what your looking for avoid at all costs! this reminded me of darkness falls in the sense you get a great story that you really werent expecting.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Dead Silence, Worst horror/thriller of the 2000's
Dead Silence. Boy was I so eager to see this when it was out in the movies, and when it came to DVD, I almost jumped out the week it came out to buy it. Thankfully, I never did, and then I forgot about it, until last week, when I found it on the discount rack at my local used DVD store. I thought this was one of the worst horror/thriller flicks that I have seen in the past few years (Valentine and Ghost Ship get honrable mention). The characters are so dumb, and I mean dumb, that it is laughable.I understand that some movies are based on Fantasy, so we are supposed to look past the things that are un-belivable and use our imaginations, but when you see how dim-witted the characters are (Donnie Walberg, that means you)you just cant even imagine human beings being so stupid nor can you even believe that this could ever happen. When we watch some movies that are Fantasy and we get so sucked in, we actually believe the events could have happened (Lord of the Rings is a prime example, unrealistic, but the story gets you so sucked in) The are no scares in this film at all, and why in gods name is this Unrated? or even rated R. It has no nudity, hardly any language, and just some disturbibing images, no worse then The Grudge. Check it out, and see what I mean. The acting is horrid, the story-line is a rip off of Dolls and Child's Play, and it is slow, and I mean slow. There is nothing here that shows good signs of a decent Thriller/Horror movie. I just dont understand some of the reviews being so postive. . Where are the thrills? Where are the parts that have my hair standing on end? Why in Gods name did I almost fall asleep a few times? OK, I will agree as I stated above that there is some nice eerie effects that gives the film a Silent Hill type atmosphere (the video game, not the stinkball movie) The score is decent, and the twist at the end, kind of makes you go..hmmm, that is pretty interesting, but that is about it. Just not enough to save the movie from the bottom of the barrel. If you are looking for a Thriller that is mostly story line, that will have you on edge the entire film, try the 1980 version of The Shining.
